Bank Rant

Ok, I'm gonna go on a rant here. Why are the banks building so many more banks? My favorite chinese restaurant in a local borough has been plowed under to make room for a new Commerce Bank. Ok, first of all, Commerce Bank is just an oxymoronic name...second, why are the banks building so many new banks...are they just making such a great profit on our money that they want to make it even more convenient to make a profit on our money? Free Checking and low interest savings and CDs and much higher interest loans, and all the fees fees fees. I joked with myt daughter as I saw the local gas station/minimart being plowed under that it was going to be a new bank. This was the ATM location closest to me other than at work downtown in Capital City where I could get my PSECU money, of course, passing buy, it's Integrity Bank. Now that's a name for a bank. I mean c'mon, you just dont expect integrity from a bank. These names, except maybe Fifth Third, dont make any sense to me. Maybe they did to the focus group that got paid $50 a pop to come up with it along with a slick 90-page color dossier on just why the latest merge renaming is with a cool $100,000 consulting fee from some marketing consulting firm named Commercial Investment-Marketing and Official Behemoth, LLC (CI-MOB). See the mob will listen to the best marketing pitch and you can repackage the same pacakage and the lambs keep coming to the slaughter.

It is no different in politics. We have a gang call themselves the Cleansweepers and all they have done is reinforce a normal rate of turnover, and it has yet to be seen yet how many of them actually rate a hill of salt on a slushy April day compared to the current pork-filled contingent.

I keep railing on the PTB, but face it, they know the game and that makes them more valuable than the rooks. The newbies are simply chum for the entrenched coalition builders of sharks, lead to the feeding grounds by knifepoint, knicked, and then told to swim with the pack or face a bloodbath with them as the bait.

Anyway, so the hardees in another burbclave was replaced by some other local conglomeration of banks that I cant even member. At least they're putting a new old diner in downtown so the Denny's isn't the only eatery and black coffee hangout open past midnight. But will they or wont they allow smkoing, unlike the Mayor's beat in the Rev. Dr. MLK City Hall?

End of post, but face it, not the end of the number of banks, coming soon to your community and built with your money, just like a good politician, but not necessarily worth every penny.
